Who are you and what do you do?
Hello! My name is Robyn Clarke - freelance copywriter and social media manager. I work with people and brands to create inspiring content that evokes action. I’m also a neurodiversity, mental health and LGBTQ+ advocate, creating content to challenge stigmas and create a more inclusive, supportive future.
What did it take/how did you get started?
After a late ADHD diagnosis, I started to learn how my brain functions best. Freelancing was a no-brainer as it allows me the freedom to work when and how I’m most productive.
What does the future look like for you and your business?
Nurturing and building relationships, working with like-minded people and elevating my skills/services. This is only the beginning - watch this space!
What drives / motivates you on a daily basis?
Providing the best service for my clients and having the freedom to create the life I want.
What advice would you give someone interested in doing what you do?
Don’t underestimate the importance of time management, self-discipline and setting personal boundaries. Freelancing offers amazing benefits, but it can quickly become overwhelming and stressful without these 3 things.
What has been the hardest part of your business journey?
Honestly, it can get lonely. I don’t have any colleagues to chat with or bounce ideas off. That’s why it’s so important to network and reach out to loved ones - you never know, a client may even become a great friend.
How have you managed burnout thus far?
I burnt out a few months into freelancing because I was trying to do everything (working 12-hour days & weekends). Since then, I have: - Set working hours - Scheduled breaks - Planned self-care time - Set boundaries with clients.
