My name is Bailey Libby and I am the founder of Millicent Marketing. My educational background is actually in Experience Design and Management, and I used that experience in marketing for several years across multiple brands as a Marketing Manager. I always had a "side hustle" of freelance marketing work. I was consistently helping multiple brands at a time with marketing needs while at my full-time roles.
Recently, I decided to make the switch to "freelancing" full-time, but as my own marketing agency. I felt compelled to start this as a way to better serve multiple brands at the same time and get to be a part of many amazing projects at once! I love running this agency because I am able to stretch my abilities across varying industries, projects, and needs, making me a better, more adaptable marketer.
I realized that many businesses I knew needed (sometimes desperately) marketing help, but they were too small or didn't want to invest in an in-house marketing team. I was able to fill that gap and offer flexible marketing support.
We are partnering with several new clients every couple of months and hope to work with even more! Short term - our agency will likely hire it's own in-house team to better serve our growing client base. Long term - we'd love to expand into other digital marketing offerings such as web development, graphic design and more that we do not currently offer.
As a "type A personality" getting stuff done, inherently, motivates me, but on a more serious note, I love seeing the transformation that can come from our work. Whether it's a simple design or a complete marketing campaign, we can see the role it plays in our client's business and being able to help and serve in that way is really amazing.
Go for it, and figure it out as you go! Most of what we've learned has been on the job. The best teacher is experience, so just give it a shot and never be scared to keep learning!
Balancing the fine line between doing what's necessary to get a new client and not giving away (tons) of free work. At the start, it can be hard to respect your own time and value.
