The goal of Hardly Hustle is to provide inspiration, drive and motivation in a 10 minute read or less. What you see is what you get. This is hot off the press without an editing team.

Antoine Martel is up.

Antoine Martel

Who are you and what do you do?

I am a real estate entrepreneur and I invest in real estate across the country. I buy and sell over 100 properties a year and I also renovate large apartment buildings, increase their rents and then refinance them. I am 24 years old and started doing this just about 5 years ago.

What did it take / how did you get started?

I got started by first learning everything possible about real estate and real estate investing. I learnt all the different ways to invest in real estate and quickly learnt that investing for cash flow was the way to go. Once I realized that investing in rental properties was the way to go. I had to figure out how the hell I could invest in real estate with no money. I spoke with my father and he said that he would invest $40,000 into a property. Then I searched and search for a property that made sense out of state and finally found Memphis. Where you could buy a property for $30,000 renovate it for $10,000 and then it was worth $60,000 after. So I bought the house, renovated it, rented it out, refinanced it, pulled the cash out and gave my dad his money back. We kept using that money over and over to grow a rental property portfolio out of state.

What does the future look like for you and your hustle?

Going to scale up the business to 300-500 homes per year. Continue to also buy larger and larger apartment buildings.

What drives / motivates you?

Retiring my parents so they never have to work for someone else again.

What advice would you give someone interested in doing what you do?

Learn as much as you possibly can, then look at your resources and match the correct strategy with your resources. You don't have to do that strategy forever, but just get started.

What are a few resources (could be books, podcasts, websites etc) that you'd recommend?

I have my podcast and ebook that I would highly recommend. I also recommend bigger pockets podcast and also their online forum. I would also recommend checking out my instagram account - MartelAntoine. I post a lot of free content there.
